Fast Times In Comic Book Editing TPB

Fast Times In Comic Book Editing TPB

Publisher: Avatar

"FAST TIMES IN COMIC BOOK EDITING is a graphic memoir that exposes my (Shelly Bond) part in the '90s VERTIGO Comics Revolution. I was an editorial ingenue working my way up the corporate ladder at DC Comics editing THE SANDMAN, THE INVISIBLES, Paul Pope's HEAVY LIQUID and other seminal titles at an exciting cultural precipice. In a two year period, the death of Superman, the rise of creator-owned comics via Image, Milestone Media, and Karen Berger's VERTIGO imprint forever changed the face of pop culture."

"Told through a series of short comics, photo montage timelines, and experimental art, FAST TIMES is also a love letter to New York City in the '90s. I gave my sweat and service to making comics by day, but weekends were devoted to urban exploration in the Lower East Side. I'd end up at St. Mark's Comics on Saturday nights at midnight  to go through the racks and dusty stacks in search of new artists and writers who could help me change the world—one comic book panel at a time."

Guest creatives Neil Gaiman, J.M. DeMatteis, Paul Pope, Michael Allred, Steven T. Seagle, Mike Carey, and Peter Gross provide brief encounters of what it was like working for VERTIGO in its '90s heyday while artists Imogen Mangle, Tess Fowler, Chris Weston, Philip Bond, and many more punctuate the colorful pages.

176 pages, 6.75" X 10.25", in full color.

This softcover edition was released in May 2023, features French flaps and was made possible by thousands of Kickstarter backers.

How We Ship

Unless otherwise noted, all comics sold on the website come with a bag and board.

All books are shipped in thick cardboard mailers or flats to reduce the risk of damage while shipping. We will NEVER send your book in a floppy shipping envelope that doesn't have protective qualities.

Orders are shipped 1-2 days after your order is placed.

Shipping rates are calculated by the weight of the items and will calculate in your cart at checkout with several options to choose from for shipping.

We cannot guarantee your new comic book or collectible will not have some slight imperfections.

Minor damages, like light corner dings or light spine dings may be present.

We do strive to try and spot all seriously damaged items before they are made available to you for purchase online, but we are human and we do deal with 100s of books everyday, so we have the potential to miss some things on our inspection.

If you feel like we missed a glaringly bad damage in your order, or your entire order was damaged by the mail, please contact us and we'll take it on a case-by-case basis to resolve you issue.

We do offer a Free Local Pickup option for those that live near our stores.

Our online inventory is located in Nashville, but all of our website inventory is separate from what's in store and kept off-site from the actual store.

You will receive a 'Ready For Pickup' notification, either by email or text (depending on your contact settings) when your item is on site and ready to pick up.

Items are typically ready for pickup next day for Nashville.

Currently this option is only available for Nashville. Clarksville will be coming soon!
