American Vampire Vol 01 TPB
(W) Scott Snyder (A/CA) Rafael AlbuquerqueThis first volume of the critically acclaimed series collects issues #1-5 and follows two stories: one written by Scott Snyder and one written by Stephen King, both with art by superstar Rafael Albuquerque.
Snyder's tale follows Pearl, a young woman living in 1920s Los Angeles, who is brutally turned into a vampire and sets out on a path of righteous revenge against the European monsters who tortured and abused her. And in King's story set in the days of America's Wild West, readers learn the origin of Skinner Sweet, the original American vampire - a stronger, faster creature than any vampire ever seen before.

Scott Snyder won me over quickly with Batman, Wytches, and American Vampire. I think he belongs high on the list of great horror writers. What’s fun with American Vampire is following these characters throughout history. It starts with the tail end of the Wild West, goes through the 60s, into the space race of the 70s/80s....and it’s still moving forward. The artist, Rafael Albuquerque, is superb at capturing the grittiness of the eras and monsters. I read this book at least once a year.-James, Rick's Comic City Nashville
